My family has always owned hounds! My maternal grandfather was a founding member of the Garden State Beagle Club in Marlton, NJ. As early as I can remember, I attended field trials with my grandparents.

For my 19th birthday I was given a black & tan, standard dachshund. She was a delight to train and show (juniors). She was Best Puppy in Match at her first match show. What a thrilling way for me to be introduced to the show world!

After getting married, we purchased Champion Boomerang's Show Off, a beautiful example of the Beaujangel bloodlines (Arizona). His structure, movement, health and personality made 'Sal' the foundation sire of Old York Basset Hounds. In 1985, Joy Brewster, our handler, showed 'Sal' who was ranked, that year, in the top ten basset hounds! Since that year, many bassets have finished their AKC Championship under the prefix 'Old York'.

During the 1980's we were introduced to the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen. We attended the 'Super Match' in Allentown, PA to see 'Alexander' win! He was the most adorable PBGV puppy! We were able to contact the MacKenzies in England, Wakelyn's Kennel, and purchase/import the 42nd PBGV into the US, 'Bridget'. The following year we imported 'Topaz' from the same kennel. 'Topaz' was the first PBGV bitch to complete her championship after PBGVs were AKC recognized! These two beautiful girls were the beginning of "Avocat/Old York PBGVs. Since the 1980's, many PBGVs have completed their AKC championship under these two prefixes.

We also owned and showed Champion Voton's Obsession (of the famous Majenkir borzoi linage), several Irish Setters (Darriabar x Trivelda linage, and several AKC champion beagles (Cejay Lee's x Jo Hill linage).

Our farm has also been home to many show horses: a palomino Missouri Fox Trotter, a palomino Tennessee Walker, 2 quarter horses, an appaloosa, In addition to a thoroughbred race horse and a standarbred mare that is ranked in the top 10 all-time pacers in the US.
